He was corrupted by the ring’s overwhelming power and became a servant of the Dark Lord, eventually devolving into a wraith. During The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, the Witch-King ambushes Gandalf at Dol Guldur, but is repelled by the combined efforts of Galadriel, Saruman, and Elrond.
